Default Ready Check Button

Hello

For years, GW party leaders have had to ask their fellows if they were ready before they went on to start whatever they're doing. We used to have to count all the "1"s we'd get in reply and have to find out who's the 8th that wasn't ready. :P. Years later, ANet was awesome and listened to the community and finally gave us the ready/not ready buttons, but that only solved half the problem!

The ready/not ready button only cuts on the "1" part, but the leader still has to ask for people to set their status. It seems like a natural evolution to install a "Ready Check" button that a party leader has access to. When you press this button, a Yes/No alert dialog box should pop up with a sound notification saying that the leader has initiated a ready check, are you ready?

Of course, I play WoW and fellow players will notice that this feature is an unorginal idea, but then again I never claimed it as original . It is just a practical, useful, feature that I think would make the ready/not ready buttons more meaningful (in that sometimes players cba to use them, or have to be reminded to).

Let me know what you think!

Unnecessary addition I feel, it only takes 2 seconds to tell people to ready up.

A good idea, IMHO. But if they were going to do it they would
have done it. Maybe they will do it in GW 2? No idea how the
groups will work there, for dungeons I mean.

It is a sad day indeed when a mere ready check is considered socializing. :/

Besides, I am saying this in light of all the MQSC I've been up to lately. Hardly anyone talks anyways aside from mentioning their role. The ready check would help to wake up people who are alt-tabbed or doing whatever irl.

Why is it useless? Do you party lead often or do you do all your content with 7 heroes? Because if it is the latter, I'm sure it is useless to you

Again, it is only a simple alert that the leader wants you to set your status. Why all the negativity? Please elaborate instead of just /unsigning and accusing me of nonsense.

Tho i'm up for an update that makes resigning easier.
Like the checkthingie in explorables. instead of typing /resign, just check rdy
When all rdy's are up your party resigned.

This is a useful and sensible suggestion. The only negative thing I can come up with is the possibility of spamming the ready check, but then you can just leave the party if the leader is griefing everyone.

Typing "ready?" isn't hard, but neither is typing "want to sell," "looking for group," or "want to buy." But so many people spam the acronyms that ANet automated those into the party search panel. Like the OP said, the ready button was also added to address group formation. Many players were too lazy to type "ready," and simply typed 1.

Typing in chat to signify that you are ready or asking if everyone else is ready isn't really meaningful communication or interesting conversation, so adding an interface element just improves the game experience.

And I say all this as someone who plays >90% H/H. It's not a feature I expect I'll ever use, but that does not mean it is useless.

Even with the implemented checkmark to indicate you are ready, I have been in lots of pugs where people put themselves on "ready", only to start changing their builds... In the end leaders still have to ask "all ready?", as the checkmarks seem to mean nothing ><.
Don't know if a button like this would change anything.
As for asking if everyone is ready not being meaningful communication. I find groups where the leader asks "all ready to go, guys?" tend to talk more to each other than when the leader says "check up". The latter seems to set people's mind to a 'don't waste time with idle chatter'-mode.
Anyhow, I wouldn't be using it, and I don't really see it making a difference so I'm gonna /notsign this.

I have to say, I kind of agree with the OP's idea. I have been the leader of a lot of parties and finding out if people are ready is always an issue. Honestly, people don;t seem to get the whole check mark thing yet. Even asking people to check up, they say "1" and don;t hit their check mark. After you finally get people to check up and enter, you find out that one person who checked up early on went off afk.

Take a look at how many people are in towns looking for a party rather than making one themselves. Creating a party should not be an annoying task. People avoid it, so they don't really get why this is an issue, but it is.

On a side note, when the party leader says "1", the original intent was not for everyone to then say "1". The idea was for people to say their own number in the party. That way the party leader could see that someone did not say "5" therefore the party was not ready.

Agree with OP... checkmark is kinda useless usually considering noone( or not all the party) uses it... It would have been more simple to be able to enter once everyone used "ready" in checkmark..

Your idea sounds good, but i don't believe it's that much needed though

Seems like a good idea hopefully it will be added at some point to gw1 should it continue running for a few more years.
Pity is no one suggested it 4 years ago or if they did its pity it wasn't taken up.

No one really communicates much in gw well outside of guildhalls and so on.
Simple button click for ready wait run attack etc are always useful so I would like what the op suggested plus a few more useful commands.

The game doesn't make it easy to chat in game because your far too busy using the keyboard to play.
Having to stop everything to type isn't possible and because there are so many voice programs few have the same one installed.

When I'm ready, I set my readycheck.

When I'm the leader, I don't start until everyone is ready. All I do is kep asking: "All ready?".

I'm patient, I can wait aaaaall day until they notice I'm ignoring their stupid 1's and waiting for them to use the proper method ANet bothered to add.

As of now, it works every time, no people leaving the team, no people complaining, they just stop writing 1's and use the readycheck.

I would wait over an hour. But so far they end up using the proper method under 1 minute.

People may join the party and forget to check/unckek local and/or team chats, but you can't close the party panel in outposts, so the readycheck is the best method, and people should get used to it.

Having a ARE YOU READY, CLICK YES OR NO appear on the screen would solve the biggest problem with the current system - the fact that 2/3 of the people you group with don't even know it exists or that the leader wants to use it.

Whenever I get 8 or 4 people in the party I hit "enter mission" immediately regardless of 1s and readycheckbuttons. You find out soon enough if people aren't "ready". Surely you can think of better ways for Anet to spend their Limited Resources[tm].
